Central Park the contestants will be making appearances in cultural, swimsuit
and evening wear. Throughout the evening there will be
much to eat and drink and entertainment provided by the local dance groups and
other surprise entertainers.
The San Pedro
Sun is pleased to take this opportunity to introduce the four
candidates for the Miss San Pedro 2001 Pageant:
Dilcia Trejo was born in San Pedro and is 17 years old. She is a graduate of San
Pedro High School and St. John's College/Junior College. Miss Trejo hopes to
further her education, majoring in Biology, in the near future. She is an avid
lover of music, dance and reading. "Through the Miss San Pedro Pageant I hope to
present myself as a person and gain more knowledge and experience when it comes
to stage presentation. I think this is a good first step for me since I am also
considering a modeling career. I take this opportunity to invite the people of
San Pedro and all visitors to take part in the September Celebrations and to
join us on pageant night," Miss Trejo told the San
Pedro Sun. Sixteen year-old Marcia Haylock is originally from
Belize City but moved to "La Isla Bonita" when she was a young child. She is
presently a Fourth Form commercial student at San Pedro High. Ms. Haylock enjoys
various sports, especially football, and also likes to travel.
Margarita Medina is fifteen years old
and originally from Punta Gorda. She is a
Third Form commercial student at San Pedro High who enjoys reading and having
overall fun with her friends. Ms. Medina brings to this pageant her rich
Garifuna culture, as a former contestant of the Miss Garifuna San Pedro Pageant.
Geraldine Leslie is a freshman at San Pedro High School.
She turns fifteen on September 3
rd and hopes that through this pageant she can conquer her stage phobia.
She is an active girl who enjoys surfing the web, diving and aerobics. Although
Geraldine was born in Corozal, she has lived in San Pedro since the age of five.
The four contestants will be making various outings
before the pageant to get better acquainted with each other. The young lady
named Miss San Pedro will receive $1000 and a variety of other prizes. The
second place winner will receive $500 and the remaining two contestants will
each receive $200. In addition, Miss Photogenic and Miss Congeniality will also
receive prizes. The new Miss San Pedro will be crowned at a special coronation
ceremony on Independence Day Friday, September 21
st, followed by the Citizens
Parade.
