Master and Mistress of Ceremonies, Tom Greenwood and Elvie Guerrero officiated at the pageant and interviewed the three contestants - Nelda Graniel, Florita Ancona and Jocelyn Bremekamp. To the audience's delight the young ladies appeared in casual wear, swim wear, cultural dresses and formal gowns. Along with the 1995-96 Miss San Pedro, Ceci Lara, the contestants entertained their fans with a dance routine.
The new Miss San Pedro was awarded a prize of $4,000. The runners up
both received prizes of $1,000. In addition to the cash awards, gifts of
perfume were presented by Louis Sylvestre and gold pendants were presented
by D & G Fine Jewelry and Arts. Sponsors of the pageant were the San Pedro
Town Board, the Belize Tourist Board, TACA International Airlines and Fido's
Courtyard. The contestants' individual sponsors were: Jocelyn Bremekamp -
San Pedro Hardware, Florita Ancona - Tropic Air, Nelda Graniel - the Belize
Yacht Club. The new Miss San Pedro made her first official appearance
Tuesday, September 10th in the Carnival Parade.
